The edmunds long-term Model 3 test isn’t looking very rosy.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Based on many issues we had early in the month, we took the Model 3 in for service. The most annoying of those issues was a repeated, uncontrollable increase in stereo volume, sometimes when we weren’t even in the car. Basically, the stereo would suddenly go to full volume without explanation.

We’ve already scheduled a third service visit for next month, and our collective patience with this car is wearing thin.

The haunted stereo thing sounds like a 100,000 mile Ford Ranger.

Given all the production issues, I’m not shocked. Presumably at some point they will get their shit together on these, but being an early adopter definitely seems risky.

Our Odyssey did that loud radio thing several times under warranty. And that was a standardized head unit from a mass market company.
But in most cases, unless you can replicate the problem, you can’t get real service.

Like I said on the FP:
Quality at Tesla is Job One Two Three Four Okay, It’s A Job. In The Top Ten. Swearsies Realsies.

This is some entertaining shit - - “I’m not having that problem with my car, therefore it is IMPOSSIBLE that you are having that problem”

Re: The audio “bug”. It’s not a bug. The car is becoming sentient, and it wants to ROCK.
Duh.

That alone would be enough for me to rage-quit the car and trade it for something else, like a 2010 Hyundai Accent hatchback sans air conditioning.

I’d go straight analog - something with a carburetor or two, distributor, points, manual trans etc etc etc.

Very few things are as inconsequential to a car being a car and getting you places and simultaneously maddening than stereo issues. My 2018 Outback will randomly just stop responding until it is shut off for some period longer than 20 minutes. Better like what’s on, and the volume, because that’s what you’re hearing until you and the car get a good nap.
I’m positive Subaru will get me fixed up (they have a new head unit for me, I just need to mke time to go get it put in), where I have very little faith that Tesla will get their shit together.
